Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is a low density plastic that is very flexible and translucent. It is widely used for dispensing bottles, wash bottles, squeeze bottles and container lids.
Its properties include:
it is translucent to opaque
robust enough to be almost unbreakable
flexible and chemically stable at room temperature.
LDPE is widely available in a ‘natural’ colour, but black is recommended for improved durability in direct sunlight or outdoor exposure.
A Boston round bottle, or Winchester bottle, is a strong and heavy bottle commonly used in the drug and chemical industries. It is often made of glass, but ours are made of plastic of course. The “Winchester quart” bottle first appeared in the UK in the 19th century with a capacity of 2 imperial quarts. At the time, a system of dry capacity measures known as “Winchester” was still in use. To this day, the Winchester bushel is used as a unit of measurement in the USA. In the 20th century, the Winchester Quart was metricated to two and a half litres.
